Auch Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Geschäftsanalytik

Analytics kann als Sammelbegriff für die verschiedensten Aufgabenfelder der systematischen Analyse (Sammlung, Auswertung, Darstellung) im betriebs- und volkswirtschaftlichen Kontext bezeichnet werden und kann der Wirtschaftsinformatik zugeordnet werden. Darunter fallen sowohl Analyse- und Auswertungsverfahren (z.B. mathematisch statistische Verfahren) als auch der eigentliche Analyse Prozess.

Die Analytics bedient sich der Informationen eines Data Warehouses bzw. Auszügen davon (den sog. Data-Marts). Analyseverfahren sind OLAP, Data Mining, Text-Mining, Web-Mining oder auch das Case-Based-Reasoning.

Ein zurzeit sehr populäres Analyseumfeld ist das sogenannte Web-Analytics, bei dem das Verhalten von Benutzern im Internet bzw. auf Websites ausgewertet wird. Insbesondere die Traffic-Analyse und Clickstream-Analyse stehen hier im Fokus und stellen die Grundlage für das Targeted Advertising.
